Challenge

Develop a sofa based on a familiar and commercially accessible typology while giving it a distinctive identity without adding unnecessary complexity.

Design Response

The upholstered body remains deliberately traditional, while a sculptural wooden leg system becomes the defining gesture. The contrast between soft upholstery and exposed structure introduces rhythm and visual tension.

Development

The project focused on integrating the leg system into the overall composition rather than treating it as a purely technical component, refining its relationship with the sofa’s proportions and upholstered volumes.

Outcome

A recognizable sofa that combines familiarity with a controlled point of differentiation, using structure itself as the product’s signature detail.
