Role: Design Director / Designer
Scope: Product Design · Material Direction
Challenge
Create a lounge chair that communicates comfort without becoming visually heavy, while introducing a recognizable character through structure rather than decoration.
Design Response
Olly combines a visible solid-wood frame with generous upholstered volumes. The inclined backrest and seat proportions encourage a relaxed posture, while the wooden structure gives the chair visual lightness and definition.
Development
The chair and coordinated ottoman were developed as a unified composition, with proportion, inclination, upholstery, and wooden structure refined to maintain continuity between comfort and visual balance.
Outcome
A relaxed contemporary seating family with subtle mid-century references, combining structural clarity, comfort, and an approachable residential character.
